It isn't new that we have seen several languages got evolved in the movies- be its Klingon language in Star Trek, Pakuni in Land of the Lost, Dothraki in or Navi in Avatar. In case of Minion it has been reported that the language is only the creation of the director Pierre Cofin, Chris Renaud- who are not language enthusiasts. Most people refer Minion's language is mostly unintelligible talking with some words from French, Spanish, Pilipino and few other foreign languages. There is no official name for this language but many from the press prefer to call it "Minionese" Minion Words- Minion talk a lot like babies and isn't a matter of simply throwing words here and there. Any one who knows Minion would know that they love to say banana!! and that's why some fan call this language as banana language. They use a lot of P's and B's that lot of babies initially master. I have gathered a small chart of Minionese English Phrasebook. Enjoy it!!! English - Minionese Apple - Bapple Hello - Bello Thank You- Tank Yu I hate you - Tatata Bala Tu Toy - Papoy One - Hana Oh no - Oh Poop Look at you- Luk at tu Stop Stop - Stupa Stupa I swear - Underwear Again these are not official translations. Some fans perhaps gathered them by patterns or few designated the translations and have been accepted by others. It can be safely said that certified translators or language experts cannot furnish the precise translation of the words spoken. Coffin calls it a silly language and commented that its even funnier when audience think Minions are actually communicating with those gibberish words so in short don't stretch yourself much. How Minionese is Understandable? Every language is much more than sound. Study of non-verbal communication depicts that only 7% of the meaning is driven by the words spoken and the rest 93% is the intonation and that's the reason why we can understand the banana language. Human brains are well mapped to understand the words that sounds similar to word with which it is already familiar. Minionese is not just a bag of words, it has emotion, tone of voice, body language and expression like any other language does. Hence Minionese is more pragmatic than semantic- where the meaning depends in the time of expression, manner its said and the place. The Minions language will likely evolve and grow over a period of time as more Minion movies gets released and Minion fans agree on a translation or interpretation that should prevail. It won't be surprising that the language gets defined by its fans.
